I had a very positive experience with Studio 16.

Before I joined, I hadn’t worked out consistently for a few years because of COVID. I chose studio 16 since I only wanted personal training and didn’t want the hidden fees other gyms came with. I was a little nervous because the studio is pretty new and personal training is not cheap, but after the consultation call with Nate I decided to give it a chance. Nate kindly let me try out 2 trainers before making a decision.

I worked with Anthony for 6 months and cannot recommend him enough. Anthony was very knowledgeable about building muscle, nutrition, and making adjustments for injuries. One time, he posted me on his Instagram story when I hit a PR (I don’t use Instagram but it was a sweet gesture). Ultimately, I met my goals and gained a lot more confidence getting back into a routine.

My 3 friends and I worked out with two of studio 16’s amazing trainers. Jenelle was always set up for us when we arrived, had new workouts every time and took the time to answer all our questions! We had a particularly fun time with her!
Chris always had inventive workouts for us to try out, made sure that our firm was on point and educated us on which muscles we were using with every movement. His workouts were never boring and always efficient.
In general we had a great time working out at Studio 16 Park Slope and would recommend it to anyone! Nate was a great coordinator and addressed any issue we had immediately and kindly. Great place, great people!

I’ve never had a trainer. Frankly, going to the gym has always intimidated me. But from the first consultation call, which was the very next day after I had requested information via the website, I knew it would be a great experience. Nate immediately understood my goals and communication style, and he asked specific questions about my history with working out and what I was looking for in a trainer. I started with my trainer Nick a few days, whose energy and personality has been so motivating especially considering how much of a beginner I am. I’m wiped out by the end of the training sessions, but I feel a sense of accomplishment when I leave the studio. The facilities (I’m at the Hell’s Kitchen location) are clean and well-maintained, and as someone who is very self-conscious especially when working out, I love that it’s truly private. I’m currently in the middle of my sessions, and I already feel a difference in my strength and stamina. I’m also sleeping better (I’m the worst sleeper) and waking up with more energy. Studio 16 has turned something I dread into something I’m excited about!

Been going since around July 2020 and it’s been a lifesaver. The flexibility of being able to see my trainer early in the morning (pre 5am) to fit into my work schedule automatically puts it above the standard gym, and my trainer Khaya is great, always tweaking how we train to make sure we’re focused on what my goals are.
I’ve also been using the meal prep they offer which has made managing what I’m eating super straightforward. A lot of options, they keep well in the fridge, and really great at helping you stay in control.

This studio really changed my life. In 2020, I came to Nathan with a goal in mind - one that seemed a bit unachievable. But he quickly reassured me that it actually was very achievable, just needed the right guidance and information. I went from being 195lbs and 17% body fat, down to 175lbs and around 8-9% body fat in the 5 months I worked with him. The greatest part was, yes I lost weight, but I gained a ton of muscle through his nutrition and workout plan. This studio/Nathan didn’t just provide me with training, but he provided me with knowledge... the type that helps you to succeed when you’re outside of the studio and doing this all on your own. I could not recommend Studio 16 more. It was by far the best investment I have ever made for my own personal well being.

I have been training at Studio 16 Flatiron for a little over 2 months and have been so happy with my experience. When I started working with Nate I weight almost 225 pounds, which really didn’t fit well on a 5’7” frame. Within 6 months I had dropped below 200 pounds, and even better it’s now 2 years later and I’m down to 185 and I’ve kept the weight off this whole time. It’s not going to be easy and he’s not going to tell you it is, but he is going to give you all the training, knowledge, and motivation you need to accomplish your goals, whatever they may be. The space: Its cozy, simple, clean and still smells new. It’s designed to make you feel like you’re the only girl/boy in the world with your dedicated trainer. I’m impressed at how efficient and configurable Nate has made this space. I hardly notice when he’s setting up to have me work on the next thing. That said the equipment is basic enough that you can replicate the routines at any commercial gym.

I’ve used trainers in the past and none have been able to produce the kind of results I have achieved while training with Nate. I have had my initial assessment and 4 sessions so far with Dan at Studio 16. It’s been an absolutely excellent experience. It is not my first time working with a trainer, but it is my first time working out at a private studio with a trainer of this caliber. Studio 16 and Dan combine privacy and a trainer’s tremendous knowledge and experience focused on me for a full hour. I am not distracted by my surroundings, as I am at a gym, and I feel that a great trainer understands what what my goals are and how far to push me. Dan is punctual, attentive, upbeat and hugely knowledgeable. He can entirely diagnose my form, how I am working out, and offer real-time corrections and advice on how to improve. He understands why certain muscles or joints might fee aggravated, and immediately addresses those areas to avoid injury. I’ve had a phenomenal experience at the studio. I’ve been training with Ed for 10 months now and I’m beyond thrilled with the results that I’ve achieved. I had no idea what to expect, I’ve never stepped foot into a gym before our initial session. I had no idea what this whole thing is going to be all about. There was a sense of intimidation, embarrassment and also some level of shame of how I let myself get to the place where I was back then. All I knew was that I was at a point in my life where I needed to make a change, not for the “aesthetic” or vanity reasons, but for health reasons. I was at 275lb, pre-diabetic, fatty liver & high cholesterol, it was time to grab my life by the horns, make a change and just enjoy the process as much as possible.

Ed and I had our initial session, I expressed to him that I was committed and that I am looking for a long’ish term training sessions. Ed was going to have work cut out for him with me. I am beyond thrilled to share with y’all, that as of mid-December, I am now 101lbs lighter and in the best health that I have been in my adult life. I started off this whole journey at 275lbs, I am now down to 174lbs, all in a matter of not even full 10 months of Ed and I working together.

What you will gain by training at this place is not only a trainer/coach/mentor- whatever you want to refer to that person, you will also gain a friend. The fact that this is a private space means that you can open up and discuss things with each other that you wouldn’t probably talk about in a commercial gym due to the fact that others folks would be overhearing your conversations.

As for the studios themselves, they are extremely clean, professional, cozy - maybe that’s a weird adjective to use when it comes to describing a gym, they are also located in very, very convenient locations, so commuting to them is a breeze.

I highly, highly recommend this place. I also highly recommend working with Ed, he’s an incredible human who knows how to connect with people on a more personal level.

I highly recommend Studio 16 to anyone who’s interested in looking for one-on-one personal training. The gym was always clean and well-ventilated. The process of registering was very easy and Nate was very attentive and easy to talk to. I trained with Rich for a couple of weeks and had a wonderful experience training with him. My experience with Studio 16 has been truly remarkable. I received a call back from Nate the very next day after making the request online. He asked about my goals and promised to get me there by pairing me with the right trainer. From beginning to end everything was setup in 2 days and I started with my trainer, Jonathan, a couple of days after signing up. My trainer Jonathan is truly a great trainer. He’s Knowledgeable, motivating & informative. Nate’s business model offers a long needed solution to the lack of affordable and straightforward personal training in NYC. You can buy a package of sessions upfront and get matched with a trainer after an in depth conversation concerning your fitness background and goals.

I was trained by Jennel, and she is an incredible trainer. She has extensive training (spanning physical therapy, to nutrition—to my plant based people, she has got you covered!, to form...), and she told me she is continuing to build on her already expansive knowledge. She has been so much fun to work out with and will get you results!

The studio I trained at was the Park Slope location. It is clean and well equipped. The private studio component to Nate’s model makes it all the more appealing. Not only are you getting a trainer—but you get a whole private gym space!

Both Nate and Jennel have been super communicative and friendly and patient and flexible. I am so glad I came across Studio 16. If you’re deciding on going with them, I say don’t hesitate, this is a solid business being built by good people. Every time I set foot in Studio 16, I know I’m going to get a great workout with a knowledgable, attentive trainer. Nate is an expert in knowing when to push his clients to try something new or challenging while still having fun and maintaining a relaxed, supportive attitude. I’ve been working out with Nate since summer 2018 - and I transitioned with him over to Studio 16 as one of it’s first clients. The fact that I chose to stick w/Nate as he transitioned should speak for his abilities - but I’m happy to elaborate.

When I started w/Nate I was attempting to get back into working out, as I’ve been a runner for a number of years, but had allowed work/life to get in the way. I needed a jump start back into it and to feel like it was something I could sustain - I wanted to feel accountable and be given guidance on how to make my workouts actually yield a visible result in my looks! Lastly, I needed a distraction from fertility issues my husband and I were going through.

Nate was a good fit, as in addition to his other certifications, he is also certified in training women pre-natal and postpartum. He started me out slow, but as we built up and he gave me a plan for workouts, I increasingly felt comfortable doing an entire workout (lifting weights, using the machines, etc.) by myself, which felt empowering. He also helped me monitor my nutrition and shift my protein/caloric intake to work towards achieving my goals. Fast forward to October 2018, I was in the best shape I’ve been in in many years and unexpectedly discovered I’m pregnant! Nate was excited for me (having been aware of our fertility struggles) and didn’t miss a beat - he transitioned me into a pre-natal workout plan and in doing so, described the specific exercises I’d be doing in order to strengthen my abs, back, etc. He made me feel so comfortable (despite my changing physicality and abilities) and I plan to workout with him throughout my entire pregnancy, and after!

I highly recommend Nate as a very knowledgeable and professional trainer - and on top of that, he’s laid back, funny and personable. He makes working out fun, and while the hour flies by for me, he still challenges me and I can feel myself getting stronger with each workout!
